CHIMERA

There are days when I would lie in bed fully awake and just wait for dawn to come. Once I hear the birds chirping I get up and go on with the day. 2 days without sleep. Insomnia’s a right old bitch isn’t she?

I couldn’t sleep again last night (or much rather, this morning). I went inside my room and looked through my shelves of art supplies. I had to do something with my time instead of watching infomercials while I waited for sleep, and it was already 1:00am. Time’s not going to go faster just for me.

My eye wandered to the bottom of my art shelf, to the huge plastic bag that I’ve forgotten was there. Rummaging through it, I found a number of mini straw hats. And then the inspiration hit me.

1:15am. Let’s see what we can make out of you hmm?

I lighted a candle so I could burn the edges of the fabric, and then proceeded to make roses out of them. The straw hat in my mind contained three roses in it. But when I pinned the three roses on the hat it seemed like it was too much, so I had to make do with one. I then sewed the base, which was just a ribbon, the roses, and then buttons for decoration. A haircomb was attached for easy hair placement.

Very simple, but it would be perfect for a country-themed outfit. And it did its magic: the sandman is coaxed out of hiding and I am now ready for bed.

But then again, it’s already 4:30am. Good morning everyone.

Gorgeous little hat!!!!! I bet it looks super cute on too.
Oh insomnia….*groan*…too often it gets me too :( . But at least you do productive and creative things when you can’t sleep! Hmm, I’ve heard of burning the edges of fabric, but i dare not try it because I’m quite clumsy and would probably burn the place down! O.o
Very very cool idea m’dear! (oh, i mean the hats, not burning my house down…)

Lol I’ve always loved playing with candles and matches since I was young, which was why my parents never let me anywhere near them… just in case I burned the place down XD
