On Stars, Planets, and Luck

July 13th, 2010

I finally received everything I’ve bought online, so now I can finally make a giant post :) In order of last opened:

1. Meta Lucky Pack

There were 2 prints that I didn’t want to get, and I got one of them. Leopard prints don’t suit me at all :( so I’ll probably sell it or trade it. But other than that I’m extremely happy with my Lucky Pack (worth every penny! So glad I bought one :D). I’m definitely keeping that bling bag though!

2. Milky Planet JSK + OTK

This is the only good photo of the dress that I currently have, but I made a video of my parcel opening below. I guess this is my love at first sight dress. One thing though: It’s SO short. Here’s a quick comparison with my SNT, which sits on my knees. Same petticoat for same poof:

I’m 160cm tall and I’m not sure if it shows it clearly in the photos, but this one falls way above my knees. I can’t imagine how short this would be for taller Lolis, but I think the length is fine for my height.

3. Finally, my Chocomint order from Electric Alice.

Odd. I used to not be attracted to blindingly cute stuff, and my normal closet mostly consists of 2 colours: brown and black. But when it comes to Loli, I wonder why I coo over the sweeter, pastel prints more than the other colours and themes?

Anyway, here’s the video version of this post if you’re still bothered to watch (minus the Meta LP opening). For some reason youtube squeezed the length of the video but oh well XD:

So exhausted… and I still have my sister’s wedding song to finish D: strong tea, be my friend tonight. Please?

Midi sounds aren’t exactly helping either. Have you ever tried transcribing music on Sibelius and all you hear all night long are the horrid nails-down-the-board sounds of midi violins, viola, and cello? If you have, and know how migraine inducing it is, then please spare a thought for me.

In another, completely irrelevant note: Pink candy-floss hair rocks, me thinks!

Fooling around with my pink wig. I’m still looking for an occassion where I will be able to actually wear it… hmm…

You know you’re in for a special treat when you get shivers down your spine upon hearing the faint music of a fair from across the river. It was an absolute pleasure to be handed a brochure at Supanova to this year’s Winterfest Medieval Fair, and by this brave knight, no less:

How could anyone say no? And so, this morning, I went to the fair. Parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, and the whole shebang.

I LOVED studying the Medieval and Renaissance periods. When I did Medieval History for Year 9, I was lucky enough to participate in my school’s first (and, to my knowledge, last) Medieval Fair. I was the High Commissioner, see. I played the part of a villain who passed judgement on women deemed to be practicing witchcraft. But that was the last time I’ve been to a Medieval Fair…

Until now, that is.

Aren’t these guys just the coolest? I wish I had a costume appropriate for Medieval Fairs, but alas! Alas!

PS: Bonus pic because I think these knights were simply the best for lending me their sword:

Oh, and that sword’s heavier than it looks. No kidding bro, I think that sword was legit.

Supanova 2010

June 20th, 2010

Ahhh finally had time to resize all the pics!

Yesterday I went to my first ever pop culture convention, and of course I went in Lolita. It was a whole lot of hilarity and fun and, best thing, nobody judges you there.

And yes, I did meet Pikachu, Sailor Moon and Sailor Jupiter XD They were pretty cool. But some of the best costumes yesterday were, without a doubt:

I think these guys were pretty awesome too!

And my 2 favourite snaps of the day:

I’ve never been this silly, and as a result I’ve never had this much fun. It feels good to get out of your comfort zone once in a while.

As for outfit shot, I didn’t really take one ehehe… so I’ll just post the one that Mary took (please forgive the odd face I was unconsciously making, and the fact that my head looks 5x bigger than my body >.< ):

On another note, please do forgive my last entry as it was, I admit, a bit too whimsical/fluffy even for me. You see, when I wrote that I just finished re-reading (for the hundredth time) my favourite series of my youth: Deltora Quest. I swear if Harry Potter was made to do the things that Lief did, without his trusty wand and spells, he wouldn’t last at all. He’d die by the first riddle.

But I digress. As we all know, good books tend to do that to people. They reel you into their worlds, make you feel comfortable, and then expel you out to the real world again where you’re left confused, alone, and yearning.

Found it! A drawing of a gryphon that I did when I was around 10 or 11 years old

I believe that dragons existed in the past, and they never really left this world. They are simply in a deep, enchanted sleep, their dreams filled with visions of an ancient world, waiting for a hero to come and wake them once again.

The gryphons, however, were not so fortunate. The elves and the gnomes number in their smallest. The unicorn has transformed to an untameable beast. The mermaids have gone. The faeries are in deepest hiding.

Oh Modernity and Maturity, what have you and your pet monkeys done?
